Experience Morocco’s desert magic on a 5-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert. Drive through the Atlas Mountains, visit Ait Ben Haddou, and stay in Ouarzazate on day one. Explore the Skoura Oasis, and Dades Valley, and spend the night in Tinghir on day two. Day three takes you to Merzouga for a camel trek and desert camp experience. Enjoy a full day of desert exploration on day four. Bid farewell to the desert on day five, returning to Marrakech via the Atlas Mountains and completing a memorable Saharan adventure in just five days.
Marrakech
7 : 00 am
Embark eastbound in the morning towards Ouarzazate through the Tizi n’Tichka pass across the High Atlas mountains. En route, capture panoramic photos and visit the UNESCO-classified village of Ait Benhaddou, renowned for its historic Kasbah featured in many famous films. Continue to Ouarzazate, home to Africa’s largest movie studios, and optionally pause for lunch. Pass by Skoura’s vast palm oasis with the beautiful Kasbah Amridil.
Stay and dine at the hotel/Riad.
Following breakfast, begin the day exploring Dades Gorges, discovering villages and meeting mountain nomads. After lunch at Todra Gorges, travel via the tar route through Tinghir’s extensive palm grove to reach Erfoud. From there, traverse tracks to Merzouga, where camel rides lead to sleeping in Berber tents amidst the desert’s serenity, relishing the starry sky.
Early rise to witness the dunes’ sunrise before returning on a camel to the hotel for breakfast and a refreshing shower. Following breakfast, commence the Dunes tour, visiting a town where sub-Saharan Berber slaves’ descendants entertain with their authentic Khamlia music. In the afternoon, depart via the Paris Dakar track to Kasbah Riad in “Ouzina desert.”
Upon breakfast, our journey proceeds towards Boulmane Dades (Gorges of Dades).
Passing through Rissani, the Tafilalet region’s capital, we’ll explore its bustling animal market and souk. Moving through the Ziz Valley, we’ll reach Erfoud, where we’ll visit the fossil quarry, witnessing its transformation into impressive works of art. Our trip continues to the Dades Gorges for an overnight stay.
Enjoy dinner and accommodations at the hotel
In the morning we will go to the well-known Gorges Del Dades. On our tour we will see landscapes of singular beauty, where a series of green oases are fed by the Dades River. Gradually the valley narrows, giving way to a thick series of calcareous blocks with vertiginous walls “the Gorges of the Dades” a pleasure for the eyes. We will continue by road and about 12 km. we will turn off the track, we will pass the mountain of Amgoun
